Kimberly Nixon

Head shot of author Kimberly Nixon

Kimberly Nixon writes family-driven stories featuring strong, determined—sometimes wild—characters inspired by real people. She wrangles these vivid personalities into the heart of her fiction, crafting emotionally rich narratives rooted in resilience and grit. Her novels Rock Bottom, Tennessee and Rock Bottom Rising are based on the true story of her grandmother’s felony conviction in 1925 Appalachia. Kimberly is also the author of the forthcoming children’s book A Visit with Grandypants, set to release this fall. A member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association and the Writers’ League of Texas, she lives in Austin, Texas with her husband Paul and is committed to living a great story of her own.

Her story Mac and Cheese Love in the Where Kindness Lives Anthology:

When Sylvie receives a devastating diagnosis, she refuses to let her final chapter be defined by loss. Instead, she leans into joy, friendship, as she sets out to live each day to its fullest. With humor and grace, Sylvie turns her tragedy into a legacy of kindness, ensuring that long after she’s gone, her warmth and generosity will remain.

A story of resilience, community, and the power of leaving something meaningful behind, Mac and Cheese Love reminds us that life’s greatest gift is not how long we live, but how deeply we touch others along the way.
